Wolf Yeigh, Ph.D. F.ASME – Chancellor and Professor of Engineering
Wolf Yeigh is the University of Washington Bothell’s third chancellor. Since joining UW Bothell, he has guided the university to record enrollment growth and a dramatic increase in number of faculty and degree programs, alongside a historic increase in fundraising and capital development.
Prior to joining UW Bothell, Wolf was professor and president of the State University of New York Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2013, where he secured over $200 million in economic development and institutional grants. Working in partnership with the SUNY Albany, a $240 million nanotechnology partnership was secured. Overseeing the largest expansion of the campus to date, he guided the building of more than $100 million in capital projects.
He previously held the position of vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Norwich University, engineering dean at Saint Louis University, and assistant provost for science and technology at Yale University. He was on the engineering faculty at Oklahoma State University.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served as a tactical intelligence officer for Fighter Squadron Seventy-Four (VF-74) aboard USS Saratoga (CV-60) in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While on active duty, he completed Strike Lead Attack Training Syllabus (SLATS), Navy Fighter Weapons School, and Navy Electronic Officer Course.
He holds M.A. and Ph.D. in civil engineering and operations research from Princeton University and a graduate certificate in science and technology policy from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton; M.S. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University; A.B. in engineering science from Dartmouth College. He was elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and serves on several national and state boards for engineering, economic development, public policy and education.
