Rebecca George is the Executive Director of the Washington Indian Gaming Association (WIGA), a non-profit Indian gaming trade organization committed to advancing the lives of Indian peoples — economically, socially and politically. In her role with WIGA, Rebecca is an educator, advocate, and policy advisor. She works tirelessly to educate people about tribes and tribal gaming, build effective relationships between governments, and promote state and federal policies that protect and preserve the interests of tribes. Rebecca also leads Washington Tribes, WIGA’s highly successful public education program, which raises awareness of how tribal government investments benefit everyone in Washington.
Prior to working for WIGA, Rebecca advised on communications and outreach for the Governor’s Office of Indian Affairs, where she worked closely with the Washington State Office of the Governor and tribal leaders in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Outside of work, Rebecca gives back to the community through volunteer activities and leadership on various nonprofit boards including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling, and Native Vote Washington, a grassroots organization that works to increase Native voting in every election by educating, activating, and empowering Native People.
Rebecca is a citizen of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, and a descendant of the Suquamish Tribe.
