Kaj Pedersen is a software executive currently leading technology for AstrumU and with over 20 years’ experience in venture creation: FinTech, MedTech, EdTech, Search and Investment Management. He is an entrepreneur at heart with a proven record of success in setting strategic directions and leading teams to reach challenging goals.
Kaj was born in Kitwe, Zambia starting a nomadic existence with opportunities to live in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Morocco, France, Germany, Denmark, Scotland, England, California, and Washington. His hobby is mountaineering that he began as a boy climbing African Kopjes before moving onto larger peaks, including three of the seven summits.
Kaj’s educational journey included actively giving back to the community underpinned by Kurt Hahn’s philosophy, making Rotary a wonderful fit enabling him to pursue service through self. His Rotary story is inspired by the Polio fight, a disease his mother had as a child. She was lucky in recovering her ability to walk, although today she suffers from post-polio syndrome. Rotary’s ambitious vision for eradicating polio spoke volumes about the passion and commitment to service that Rotary represents. This inspired Kaj’s involvement as a club President, an Assistant Governor, and currently as the District Governor for 5030.
Kaj and his wife, Clare have been married for 27 years and their son, Sebastian, is
studying for his masters degree in Interactive Application Design with Columbia College, Chicago.
