Dr. Kelly Aramaki is the Superintendent of the Bellevue School District, where his family has lived for 5 generations. Dr. Aramaki started his career in education in Bellevue as an elementary school teacher. He served as an elementary school principal for 10 years in the Northshore and Seattle school districts, receiving the National Milken Educator Award, the Washington State Elementary Principal of the Year Award, and the Northwest Asian Weekly Visionary Award. He then served for another 10 years as an executive director of schools in Seattle and then Bellevue, as well as assistant superintendent in Bellevue, before becoming superintendent in July 2023. Dr. Aramaki earned his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington, his master’s degree in teaching at Columbia University, and his bachelor’s degree in zoology with a minor in music from the University of Washington. Dr. Aramaki and his family currently live, work, play, and serve the community in Bellevue.
