Anna Skibska studied at the Academy of Art in Wroclaw, Poland, in the Department of Painting. Diploma awarded in 1984.

From 1985 to1996 Anna Skibska was faculty member and teacher of fine arts and architecture at Academy of Art in Wroclaw, Poland. In 1990 she presented her work at the OB’Art 5e Salon de L’Objet D’Art Contemporain at Porte de Versailles in Paris France. In 1992, she was the youngest artist invited to the National Museum in Wroclaw for her individual exhibition.
Her signature technique, known as Anna Skibska Technique, was developed in the 90s. She moved to the USA in the late 90s and settled in Seattle in 1999, where she continues to reside and create. Seattle Art Museum hosted her first solo exhibit at an American museum in 2001. In 2004, Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle officially named its flameworking studio the Anna Skibska Flameworking Studio.
Other international exhibitions of note include the Fondacione Bevilaqua la Masa in Venice (2002), the 11e Pavillon des Arts et du Design at the Jardin des Tuileries, Paris (2007), Le Verre Exposision, Orangerie du Domain de Madame Elisabeth, Versailles, France. (2008), and a solo installation at the Museo del Vetro, Murano, Venice following the 2013 Venice Biennale. Since 1984, Skibska has presented 58 individual exhibitions all over the world.
Her work resides in prestigious international corporate, private and museum collections, including Musee-Atelier du Verre, Sars-Poteries, France (acquired in 2007 from her installation at Art Basel, Basel, Switzerland), the National Museum in Wroclaw, Poland, the bellevue Arts Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Glass, and Safeco Collection in Washington State, Mint museum, Charlotte in North Caroline, Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin.
In addition to the printed catalogues at the above exhibitions and others, Skibska’s work has been documented in numerous publications and short films, a segment on PBS, and in Paul Stankard’s 2013 book, Spark The Creative Flame, which devotes the chapter “Sparkle of the soul” to Skibska’s achievements and her technique.
She has received many honors and awards, most recently the Honeycomb Award in Poland (2014), and has donated work in support of many institutions, including the James Renwick Alliance Auction (Smithsonian) in Washington DC in 2016.
