Adam Baker has more than 20 years of experience in supply chain and transportation, and currently serves as Vice President of Global Transportation Services at Amazon. Adam and his global team orchestrate capacity planning and manage a dynamic network of partners and transportation assets that move goods from all over the world into Amazon’s fulfillment network in the EU and North America.
Adam joined Amazon in 2004 and has earned a track record of innovation and leading at scale, including industry-leading initiatives like the incubation of Arc Angel (later Amazon Air), building Amazon’s Network Operations Command Center, creating the Transportation Operations Management (TOM) program of in-house drivers for yard movements at our operations sites, and engineering the transportation network that enabled One-Day Prime Delivery.
Adam is deeply committed to engaging with and giving back to the community, both personally and professionally. He recently created a new team at Amazon, Logistics for Good, which aims to provide food stability in hard-to-reach locations. In line with Amazon’s Climate Pledge, he is striving to move all of Amazon’s transportation network to net-zero carbon emission. Adam believes in a “thrive vs. survive” work style. He drives this belief throughout his entire organization by preparing them for more challenging leadership positions, promotions and providing robust, whole-life, leadership training.
Prior to Amazon.com, Adam worked at Deloitte Consulting, where he specialized in business process re-engineering for several major supply chain and manufacturing clients.
Adam has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. When not at work he can be found traveling with his wife and kids in addition to running triathlons, camping and volunteering in his sons’ Boy Scout Troop.
