Everett Fitzugh has made a history with the Seattle Kraken as the first full-time black play-by-play broadcaster in the NHL history. Fitzhugh debuted for the expansion franchise as their radio broadcaster and also does a host of promotional appearances and events. He is a native of Detroit and went to college at Bowling Green before getting his break in the broadcasting with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL. In 2017, he received the ECHL’s Award of Excellence for Media Relations in his dual role of Director of Media Relations for the Cyclones. Fitzhugh also spent time calling games for the Youngstown Phantoms.
