Warren Barkley joined Google in 2021 as the Senior Director leading the AI/ML platform teams. Prior to Google, Warren had a series of executive roles managing AI/ML product groups at Amazon Web Services and Microsoft. For 5 years Warren was the CTO for SMART Technologies, a public company that was sold to the Foxconn Group in 2016. Before that, he held several key positions at Microsoft and was instrumental in the development of Microsoft Teams/Skype. Early in his career, he played a central role in establishing WiFi as a worldwide standard. He holds over 60 worldwide patents in a range of technologies.
Warren has advanced degrees from the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia. He lives in Seattle, Washington, with his family and dog, Travis.
