As Bellevue’s City Manager, Brad Miyake oversees the day-to-day operations and the $1.7 billion biennial budget of Washington state’s fifth most populous city, and a center of technological innovation in the United States. With 30 years of experience driving responsible and efficient operations and finance, Miyake has helped guide the city through a period of transformational growth in residents, jobs and construction. Prior to his appointment in 2013, Miyake served Bellevue as Deputy City Manager for nearly seven years, a position he was offered following his success managing other departments.

Miyake has been instrumental in Bellevue’s focus on customer service through the One City/High Performance Organization program. He continues to champion the city’s Diversity Advantage Initiative which emphasizes equity, access and inclusion for residents. In addition, during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Miyake has helped ensure the continuity of city operations and steady transition to online services during mandated facility closures.      

He is a member of the International City Management Association and the Washington City/County Management Association. Born and raised in Seattle, Miyake attended Franklin High School and the University of Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. Miyake and his wife are longtime Eastside residents and have two adult daughters.
