Who’s Inspired by the Inspiration Playground?
Bellevue Rotary is best known for creating the Bellevue downtown park’s Inspiration Playground.
One of our club members travels frequently to Nepal for service projects, where discrimination against people with disabilities is still rampant. He has found that when children play side by side, their view changes from “differently abled” to “friend.” Thus the Inspiration Playground was born— children of all abilities can play side by side and become friends.
Although intended for children, the Inspiration Playground inspires us to live our lives through the motto of service above self. Click through the slides below for more examples.

Children's Healthcare in Nepal
Bellevue Rotary is honored to collaborate with Nepali Rotarians in serving the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in the scenic town of Dhulikhel, Nepal. We have supplied vital equipment including an x-ray machine, ambulance, and school rebuilding project.
Feeding the Hungry
With students from Newport High School, we make and package sandwiches for Union Gospel Mission.
Family Festival
Family festival is an annual party that serves as a platform to introduce potential adoptive parents with children in a fun and relaxed environment.
Feeding the Hungry at Porchlight
Our club members do kitchen work for Porchlight, an organization with the mission of partnering with men and the community to create a path from homelessness to stable living.
Preparing food at Jubilee Reach
Our club members purchase and pack food items that will go to families in need via our amazing partner organization, Jubilee Reach.
Service to Mature Adults
We have a fun and entertaining evening sponsoring an "auction" for a retirement community. Each resident receives $1,500 in "Rotary money" to bid on auction items we have procured for the event.
Water Supply in Senegal
Most of our service projects are local, but some go halfway around the world. Supporting villages in Senegal begins by restoring their water supply.

We educate people in Senegal about sustainable agricultural practices.

Camp Good Times
We plan, promote, and implement the annual Camp Goodtimes Carnival at Camp Burton, which creates caring spaces where kids with cancer can just be kids
Mentor Program
Experienced professionals from our club connect with high school and college students to provide mentorship in business skills and development.
Partners for Work
We plan and support the entry of differently abled individuals into the workforce who assist with our club's meetings. This project is in coordination with our Rotary district's Partners for Work project, which aims to promote employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Battery Recycling
Can you guess what is in those drums? They are filled with recycled batteries! We collected them during battery recycling day at Bellevue's downtown park.
Fundraiser
Our club's past presidents prepare and serve dinner at an annual fundraiser.
Harvest Against Hunger
Our club members have packed thousands of pounds of fresh produce to bring hunger relief across Washington state. We honor guest speakers at our club by donating fresh produce to HAH in their honor.
Eliminating Polio with Rotary International
One of Rotary International’s signature projects has been the attempt to eliminate polio worldwide. As the founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Rotary International has led an effort that has reduced polio by 99.9%. In 1988 WHO reported an estimated 350,000 cases of polio worldwide. In 2023, there were about 500.
Bellevue Rotary has supported the Rotary Foundation throughout its efforts to eradicate polio and has contributed more than $100,000 to the Rotary Foundation, as well as contributing hands-on work in Ethiopia.
