Sr. Project Developer/Partner, Millig Design Build
Devin Malone is part of the owner-operator team at Millig Design Build, an engineer-led general contractor specializing in existing building renovations, progressive design build, and energy service performance contracting. He has worked with school districts across Washington State to solve their toughest facility challenges while capturing millions of dollars of grants and utility incentives.
An accomplished project development professional, Devin Malone has been making energy projects a reality for over 16 years and on multiple continents, from design and installation of a micro-hydro generator in rural Thailand, to risk analysis of the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive. Most recently, Devin’s professional world has revolved around his ownership in Millig Design Build, where he helps large building owners increase sustainability, well-being and opportunity for building users by developing and coordinating the delivery of Design-Build and Energy Saving Performance Contract projects in Washington State.
Originally from Alaska, Devin graduated cum laude with his B.A. in Environmental and Energy Policy from Western Washington University. While at Western, he campaigned with Students for Renewable Energy to make WWU the first public university in the country to be 100 percent powered by renewable energy, and was then named student representative on the program’s board of managers. He received his M.Sc. Industrial Ecology from the Delft Institute of Technology in the Netherlands, where he led a team in designing a net zero energy system for a mixed-use commercial site with an industrial heritage (Sugar City).
Devin has lived in the United States, Thailand, Bolivia, and the Netherlands, and has traveled in over 35 countries. He enjoys surfing Westport, trail running the Cascades and Olympics, dispersed camping with his dog, off-beat international travel, board games, and spoiling his nieces.
